Director of Payroll
Director of Payroll is the oversight of Payroll Department and all related payroll functions.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Manage payroll process for 1850 nonunion and union employees; ensure all payroll transactions are processed accurately and timely.
Be an expert; have an extensive understanding of all Federal and California regulatory payroll guidelines in compliance with all labor codes, FLSA, and other pay regulations.
Manage compliance with all payroll regulations, including but not limited to, payment processing, payroll tax, 401K, sick, vacation, and garnishments.
Understand pay in the hospitality industry, and be an expert in Wage and Hour Regulations and overtime.
Provide leadership and direction for the Payroll Team; including mentoring and coaching, with a strong investment in development.
Educate and ensure Payroll Team is properly trained; provide leadership to enhance performance, quality and productivity.
Interact and communicate with Accounting, Human Resources, resort Managers, and Employees regarding payroll concerns.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including ability to presenting to leaders in the company.
Prepare and submit Companys payroll tax deposits per regulatory requirements. (Federal and multistate)
Prepare Quarterly tax returns, Federal 941 and multistate Wage reporting.
Prepare Annual tax returns including Annual IRS 8027.
Prepare annual W2s and electronic W2 submission to Social Security Administration.
Track and maintain employee 401k contributions per pay period, quarterly enrollment participant set up and contribution changes.
Prepare Quarterly all non-union hourly 401k earnings based on Plans eligibility requirements.
Assist FY financial planning with historical pay reports.
Maintain payroll system through semimonthly, quarterly and year end audits, including periodic review of employee master files.
Prepare various reports, including payroll hour summaries.
Prepare and set-up year end requirements.
Maintain documents and reports, especially of workers compensation and pension data for external audits.
Previous Experience and Required Skills
Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance preferred
Minimum 7 years payroll experience in high volume, fast paced environment
Previous payroll experience in the State of California, hospitality preferred
Minimum 5 years supervisory experience; preferably in Payroll
Working knowledge of Kronos or similar major timekeeping system
Extended knowledge of Microsoft Excel Spreadsheet making use of computational formulas and reporting
Extensive understanding of all Federal/California regulatory payroll guidelines in compliance with all labor codes, FLSA, and other pay regulations
Accurate filing skills critical, as well as ability to type and perform basic bookkeeping
Must be able to work in an accurate, organized and efficient manner
Excellent customer service skills
Great communication skills required
Physical Requirements
Ability to sit for long periods of time. Repetitive hand use.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
